What is gold filled?
What is the daily maintenance of caring for your jewelry?

What is gold filled?
14 karat gold filled is an affordable solution. By law, it has 1/20th by weight layer of 14 karat gold permanently bonded over a core of base metal. It has far more gold than the few microns coating of gold in gold plate, a hundred or more times the amount of gold, actually. Under normal wear with reasonable care that you would give any precious metal jewelry, 14KGF jewelry will not peel or flake and can be treasured as heirloom pieces. It is tarnish-resistant like solid 14 karat gold and is safe for most people with sensitive skin who can wear solid 14 karat gold jewelry. Caring for 14 Karat Gold Filled jewelry is as easy as caring for other precious metal jewelry, too. So all in all, 14K gold filled jewelry is a long lasting, economical way to enjoy the luster of gold without the big price tag.

What is the daily maintenance of caring for your jewelry?
Caring for Your Jewelry For all Jewelry Do not drop or abuse your jewelry. Refrain from hitting your jewelry with another object. Do not forcibly bend any part of your jewelry. Prevent your jewelry from being caught on another object, such as clothing. Follow the suggested guidelines below in caring for your jewelry. Be cautious to avoid the improper usage of your jewelry. Sharp jewelry items, including brooches, as well as small items like rings, may pose a threat to young children or when used improperly. Costume - Fashion Jewelry We strive to sell high quality and durable costume jewelry. However, as a general rule of thumb, no costume jewelry will be as durable or reliable as fine jewelry. It would be unreasonable to expect costume jewelry to last indefinitely; even fine jewelry will not look new forever. With proper usage and care, you can prolong the life of your jewelry. Following the suggested guidelines below for the type of costume jewelry in question will help to prolong the life and enjoyment of your jewelry. Caring for your costume jewelry: Keep your jewelry away from the following as much as possible: Water, lotion, perfume, or other harsh chemicals. Do not use soap/water or jewelry cleaner to clean your costume jewelry. We recommend that you use Windex or equivalent to clean your jewelry. Sweat will shorten the life of your costume jewelry. Sterling Silver and Vermeil Jewelry Much of today's fine sterling silver jewelry has a layer of rhodium plating. This gives your sterling silver jewelry the look of platinum/white gold jewelry, and also help keep your jewelry shine by inhibiting tarnishing, while also requiring less maintenance. Point to note, this is simply top plating and rhodium plate will eventually wear off over time. However, because the base metal is sterling silver, it may still be polished to a shine. Using any sterling silver cleaner solution (such as Tarnix) will make rhodium plating wear off faster, thus should only be done when necessary. It is best to clean your sterling silver jewelry with Sterling Silver Cleaner Cloth for regular cleaning. Vermeil jewelry is sterling silver jewelry with 18K Gold Electroplated. As with rhodium plating, you should follow the above guidelines. If your sterling silver does not have any rhodium plate, we still recommend that you use a Sterling Silver Cleaner Cloth most of the time and use Tarnix or equivalent only when needed. This is because sterling silver jewelry has a plating chemical that gives your sterling silver jewelry the shine. Caring for your silver jewelry: Keep your jewelry away from the following as much as possible: Water, lotion, perfume, or other harsh chemicals. For Rhodium Plated Silver and Vermeil jewelry - Do not use soap/water or jewelry cleaner to clean your jewelry as the soap will leave a film clouding your jewelry. We recommend that you use Silver Cleaning Cloth for light cleaning, Windex or equivalent to clean out dirt that Cleaning Cloth can not clean. Sweat will shorten the life of your jewelry.
